Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
InRitual is a platform for hosting intentional gatherings - normal hangouts with a light intention like music listening sessions, poetry readings, movie nights, or discussion topics. You can create recurring Circles or one-off Gatherings and invite people via email or SMS.
Click 'Start a Circle' from the navigation or dashboard. Give your Circle a name, description, set your privacy preferences, and invite members. Your Circle will serve as a home for recurring gatherings with the same group.
A Circle is a recurring group - like a book club or weekly movie night crew. A Gathering is a single event that can be standalone or part of a Circle. Think of Circles as the 'who' and Gatherings as the 'when and what'.
You can start for free! The Free plan lets you create up to 2 Circles with up to 8 participants each. Paid plans offer more Circles, larger gatherings, and additional features like custom branding and analytics.
Circles & Gatherings
You can invite people via email or SMS. Go to your Circle's page, click 'Invite', and enter their contact information. They'll receive an invitation with a link to join. You can also share your Circle's public link if it's set to open participation.
Yes! You can assign other members as co-hosts, giving them the ability to create gatherings, manage members, and adjust settings. Go to your Circle's settings to manage member roles.
We have many built-in types including Music Listening, Film Screening, Poetry Reading, Book Discussion, Game Night, Cooking Together, and more. You can also create custom gathering types that fit your unique intentions.
Absolutely. You can set participation to Open (anyone can join), Invitation by Participants (members can invite others), or Invitation by Host Only (only hosts can invite). You can also hide the participant list for more privacy.
You can cancel a gathering from its settings page. All invited participants will be notified. We recommend giving as much notice as possible and optionally suggesting a reschedule date.
Library & Artifacts
The Library is a shared collection of links, notes, and artifacts from your gatherings. After a poetry night, you might save the poems shared. After a music session, save the playlist. It becomes a record of your time together.
Library contribution settings are customizable per Circle or Gathering. You can allow all participants to contribute, limit it to hosts only, or set it to host-approved contributions.
Yes. You can set Library visibility to Participants Only (only those who attended can view) or Public (anyone can see the artifacts). This is set per Circle or Gathering.
You can add links (articles, playlists, videos), notes (reflections, summaries), and uploaded files (photos, documents). Each item can have a description and tags for easy searching.
Privacy & Security
You control visibility. Public Circles appear in Explore and can be found by anyone. Private Circles are hidden and only accessible via direct invitation. Unlisted Circles don't appear in search but can be joined with a link.
Yes. Each gathering has a participant list visibility setting. Hosts can set it to Public, Participants Only, or Hidden. If hidden, only you can see your own RSVP status.
Go to the Circle's page and click 'Leave Circle' in your member settings. Your past contributions to the Library will remain unless you choose to delete them. If you're the only host, you'll need to assign a new host first.
Go to Settings > Account and scroll to the Danger Zone. You can delete your account there. This will remove your profile and leave all Circles you're part of. Gatherings you hosted will be transferred or archived.
Billing & Plans
We offer Free ($0), Pro ($49/year), and Organizer ($99/year) plans. Free is great for small groups, Pro works for active hosts, and Organizer is for those running multiple communities or larger events.
For a limited time, you can get Lifetime Pro for $149 (first 100 users) or $249 after. This gives you all Pro features forever with no recurring payments.
Yes, guests count toward the participant limits for gatherings. If you have a 20-person limit and 5 members bring guests, those guests count toward the 20.
Yes! We offer a 50% discount for registered non-profits on the Organizer plan. Contact us with your organization details to apply.
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time. When upgrading, you'll be charged the prorated difference. When downgrading, your new plan takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Invitations & Notifications
You can invite people via SMS if you have their phone number. SMS invitations count toward your plan's limit (Pro: 200/year, Organizer: 1000/year). Free plans don't include SMS invitations.
Yes! When inviting people, you can add a personal message that will be included with the invitation. This helps recipients understand why they're being invited.
Go to Settings > Notifications to control what emails and push notifications you receive. You can toggle notifications for new invitations, gathering reminders, Circle updates, and more.
Check that the email or phone number is correct, and ask them to check spam folders. You can resend invitations from the Circle or Gathering's member list.
